Congressman Joseph Crowley, Chair of the Democratic Caucus, invited Sarker Haque, a local business owner in Astoria to be his guest to President Trump's joint address to Congress on February 28, 2017. Mr. Haque was a victim of a hate-crime in December 2015 when he was attacked in his own convenience store in Astoria, due to the fact that he is Muslim. Congressman Crowley was touched by Mr. Haque's call for unity for all people, regardless of religion. Mr. Haque is only one member of a diverse coalition of guests that Democratic representatives will be bringing in an attempt to remind President Trump of what the face of America looks like.
