(Queens, NY) On Wednesday, September 1, Congressman Joseph Crowley (D-Queens/Bronx) and Assemblyman Jeff Aubry (D-35) hosted a back to school drive at the Elmcor Youth and Adult Activities center in Corona. Crowley and Aubry helped kick off the new school year by donating new backpacks and school supplies to students of all ages. They also provided the students with words of encouragement and support as they head back to school.
"A good education paves the way for our children to be successful in the future. That is why we must ensure that every child has the tools necessary to excel in the classroom,” said Congressman Crowley. "The back to school drive Assemblyman Aubry and I hosted at Elmcor will not only help ensure that young students in Queens have the supplies they need in the classroom, but that they start the new school year with a brighter outlook on learning. Working together with parents, teachers and community organizations like Elmcor, I am confident that we will continue to give our children the resources necessary to further their education."
"I was proud to join Congressman Crowley yesterday in lending a helping hand to students as they head back to school. To prepare them for a good school year and a proper education, we must ensure that each child has what is necessary to be engaged in the learning process. We have a responsibility to help make the right to learn an obligation that all of us can help achieve by providing the tools necessary for a solid education," said Assemblyman Aubry.
Elmcor Youth and Adult Activities is a multi-service non-profit organization that provides quality educational and recreational youth services to residents of Corona, Jackson Heights and Elmhurst.
